The Human Story

Behind the numbers
Behind the statements and statistics are real people with harrowing tales of suffering and loss, as well as hope and ambition. UNHCR believes it must give a voice to those who otherwise could not speak. Our staff regularly gathers human stories of refugees, asylum-seekers and stateless people and publishes these on the website. This way people living in peace and comfort can better understand why the forcibly displaced and stateless need compassion and care. Hear the stories of hardship, courage, struggle and perseverance below.
